Weekend at Greay Haywood

Took the boat back from Paula & Damian with a couple of extra guests set to stay (Rosie & Jim). Stayed at Great Haywood and sampled a couple of the local pubs.

Willington to Great Haywood

Spent the weekend at Alrewas. Such a lovely village.

DE14 2JS - Burton on Trent - visited Barton Marina to get appointment for Diesel lock.

DE13 7AN - Moored at Alrewas. Went over to Ashby Canal to meet up with Mike & Iris. Had a great time catching up over a jar or two in the Globe. Had to cut our visit short as we had to get back to Sheffield to visit Graham's Mum in hospital. When we returned we found that we had all our diesel stolen. The first night off the boat and this happens to dampen our spirits.

Weekend at Shardlow. Very nice area with five pubs. Visited two so will save the others for our next visit.

DE65 6BP - Moored up at Willington and had evening meal at the Green Dragon. Travelled on the Sunday to the Stevenson lock. Trying to turn a 60' narrowboat in a 55' winding hole does not work. But it was an experience for our crew!

WS13 8PY - Spent the weekend on the Coventry canal at Lichfield. Drove up to Fradley Junction to check out the swing bridge and locks.

Spent the weekend cruising up the Ashby canal.

Calcutt boat yard to Saltisford Arm 25 locks. Had a great week and spent a great few days with Mike & Iris from Newzealand. Also met Chrissie & Richard after following their blog for the past two years. All in all a fantastic week was had.

Didn't take the boat out this weekend. Just had a relaxing time.

Great weekend had by most of the crew. It can be very stressful nearly hitting other boats as the steering just doesn't do what you think it should.

We have picked up the keys and are now proud owners of nb Koi. With the travelling and the heat and not taking any cleaning products with us we were only able to relax learn how things work - which is a very large learning curve!

My husband Graham and I are about to start a new adventure on the cut. We are buying a 60' narrowboat from Calcutt Boats and looking forward to making lots of new friends on our travels.
